 Hi everyone!

If you attended our meeting last month, it was all about new...

  • New Industry - Software as a Service
  • New Business - ExactTarget
  • New SQA Team and SQA Professionals

Pretty exciting stuff!

This month will be learning about something that's nowhere near new, but that's receiving renewed interest and attention because of its time-tested value.  Training-Within-Industry (TWI) was developed in the 1940’s and is still very effective today. TWI involves Learning by Doing which improves the effectiveness and retention of the training significantly when the material is applied soon after instruction and the learning can be directly transferred to the participant’s environment. TWI consists of four standardized programs covering essential skills needed by all supervisors and team leaders, regardless of their industry. The programs include: Skill in Instruction (Job Instruction), Skill in Improving Methods (Job Methods), Skill in Leading (Job Relations) and Skill in Safety (Job Safety).

Our speaker can certainly claim to have learned by doing.  Paul Johnson has 27 years in manufacturing with General Motors and Delco Remy America. Paul has also served as the Director of Human Resources for the City of Anderson, IN.

Paul has been certified as an instructor from the TWI Institute for Job Relations (JR), Job Instruction (JI) and Job Methods (JM) and Job Safety (JS). Recently, Paul became certified as a Master Trainer from the TWI Institute for Job Instruction and will be delivering Train-the-Trainer classes in Job Instruction. Since joining the Indiana Manufacturing Extension Partnership (MEP), Paul has delivered all the NIST Lean Tools to clients in Indiana, and has trained over 1200 people in at least one of the TWI Modules.

We're going to have a great time, so please make plans to join us!
